The Daryl and Glenda Minor Tanzania Fellowship will support a first-time two-year master’s degree program for an entering Michigan State University (MSU) student from Tanzania with interests in a field related to international development. The Minor Fellow will be committed to working towards understanding and contributing to inclusive social and economic development in Tanzania. Individuals with an interest in furthering girls’ education and economic opportunities for women are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Daryl and Glenda Minor Tanzania Fellowship will provide the following:
A two-year commitment for a first-time master’s degree student who holds a bachelor’s degree from a Tanzanian university.
A ten hour per week graduate assistantship during fall and spring semesters (includes monthly stipend, health insurance, and tuition waiver for 9 credits per semester during the academic year).
Additional Fellowship funds to cover living expenses.
A research experience in Tanzania at the end of the first academic year aimed at providing the Fellow hands-on experience with an education development program.
The Fellowship awardee must make good progress toward the degree, maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and not seek additional assistantship or employment during their fellowship award.
Only students who have been admitted to a two-year Master's degree program at MSU are eligible for this fellowship. Applicants must, therefore, first apply to the desired Master's program through the academic department hosting the program at MSU.
