Building a Girls Secondary School Dormitory
One key deterrent to girls' completion of secondary school in Milola has been the lack of safe and secure housing near the school. In 2017, TAG Philanthropic Foundation awarded TPP $45,000 to construct a girl's dormitory that includes 48 beds, a dining hall with kitchen, a school garden, and a girl-friendly latrine and shower facility. In 2019, TAG provided funds for a security fence and gate to demarcate and protect the property, bringing its total contributions to $56,500. The Tanzanian Education Authority furnished the dormitory and Lindi District employs the matron. The dormitory will welcome its first cohort in 2020.
