Playground-Based Learning

Play 360, an international NGO that builds playgrounds to stimulate education outside of the classroom, installed playgrounds at Milola A, Milola B, and Ngwenya Primary Schools, and a netball court and soccer field at Milola Secondary in 2016. After installation, DUCE trained Milola teachers on how to use the playgrounds for experiential learning. TPP hosted another six-day teacher workshop in 2019 to provide further training to twenty-one teachers on how to use the playgrounds to involve students in the learning process. The teachers were eager to apply this new learning approach and have noticed that playgrounds increase student attendance.
